Recently, the teams of Prof. Wang Guoqing from the College of Basic Medical Sciences (CBMS) of Jilin University and Prof. Elza Khusnutdinova from Bashkir State Medical University (Russia) jointly received the approval for a cooperation and exchange project supported by the NSFC: the Establishment of China-Russia miRNA Expression Profile Analysis and Early Warning Platform for Hemorrhagic Fever with Renal Syndrome in Different Serotypes. The project aims to develop a technique for separating miRNA from plasma and identify the possible relations between miRNA expression and major indicators of disease occurrence, severity and complications by analyzing the plasma of Chinese and Russian patients in two different serotypes. The project will help to provide a theoretical basis for the establishment of an early warning platform for high-incidence infectious diseases and infectious disease emergencies in the two countries.
Due to the similar ecological environment and increasingly frequent trade contacts, the risk of cross-border transmission of pathogens between China and Russia has increased sharply in recent years. Therefore, the R&D and exchange programs on infectious disease prevention and control will help strengthen the health cooperation between the two countries, move forward prevention and control of imported infectious diseases, and improve the ability of China and Belt and Road countries to jointly deal with outbreaks of major emerging infectious diseases and infectious disease emergencies.
