Department of Immunology

In 1978, the Department became one of the first to be authorized to confer master's degrees, and in 1988 to confer doctor's degrees.In 1988 the Department was approved as a key disciplinary station for the immunology in universities. In 2005, the immunology in our Department was listed as one of the 100 excellent courses. With a strong research strength and a rigorous scientific attitude, we mainly focus on the study of the basic theory and application of immunology. The Department has trained hundreds of postdoctoral, doctoral and master students. Our scientific research strength is among the top in the discipline in Jilin province and even in China. In 2017, the immunology discipline (field) of Jilin University ranked in the top 1% of the world's ESI for the first time with a huge academic influence in the world.

The Department is also responsible for teaching immunology courses to various levels of students. Exploring the appropriate teaching positioning, teaching mode, teaching method and teaching material construction according to different levels of teaching is our vision, pursuit and action at all times. We have successively edited or participated in the editing of more than 30 textbooks, carried out multi-directional teaching reforms, published dozens of teaching reform papers and obtianed many national, provincial and school level teaching achievement awards. With the hard work of several generations, the teaching work of the Department has formed the teaching features with a high reputation in the school and even in China: 1. Perfect teaching material construction with a long history, which is in line with the international advanced teaching materials and has formed its own system and advantages. Our teaching material construction is widely praised by domestic peers. 2. Tailored teaching reforms which could keep pace with the times. We follow the needs of scientific development and changes and constantly explore new or adjust the original teaching mode according to the requirements of different levels of talent training. Our teaching reforms are well evaluated by the students. 3. Teach in English. For many years, teaching in English for long-term students has become a highlight of medical education.
